I am working OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 for years on my MacBook Professional Retina 2015, by no means up to date the OS since then as I am working a bunch of softwares that will not work if I replace.
Anyhow, since about one week, my sound will not work, though I did not replace my OS, neither put in any new apps not too long ago. Once I push the sound buttons on the keyboard the icon pops up on the display screen displaying it is mute. I attempt to open the Sound preferences as common when I’ve such downside (it could possibly be that my Mac opens a special audio output, it occurs typically), however now the Sound preferences will not open in any respect.
All the opposite panes in System preferences open besides the Sound one. When I attempt to open the Sound pane, the System preferences app freezes, and I’ve to drive give up it. Generally the pop up message will apear “unattainable to open the Sound pane”.
I’ve tried most of the suggestions discovered on-line: opening in Protected mode, working First assist on the Disk Utility app, working sudo killall coreaudiod within the terminal… nothing appears to repair it.
However I do know the speaker shouldn’t be damaged since after I restart my laptop, the booting sound is heard.
Any recommendations on the right way to get my laptop again on tracks?
